Sourcing Spanish olive oil: from positioning to packer readiness.

The right supplier depends on whether you are buying for hospitality, retail, private label, gifting or distribution—and what the destination demands.

01

Define product and channel together

Specify oil category, intended flavour or origin story, pack size, packaging material, case configuration, channel, target shelf position and forecast volume. A premium retail bottle and a food-service tin should not share the same supplier brief.

02

Understand the supply model

Producers, cooperatives, packers and brand owners may offer different control, minimums and private-label options. Ask who produced, stored and packed the oil and what traceability documentation follows the batch.

03

Build private label around realistic constraints

Confirm stock versus custom packaging, artwork ownership, label review, minimum print quantities, sample route and production lead time. Include secondary packaging and freight durability in the cost model.

04

Verify labels and import responsibilities

Product descriptions, origin and quality claims, nutrition information, language, importer details and destination rules should be checked before printing or ordering.

Requirements vary by product and destination and should be verified before an order is finalized.
